iOS 8: the biggest update since the App Store (quite literally)


Apple released iOS 8, the latest version of its mobile operating system, on September 17th, 2014, timed to coincide with the imminent retail availability of the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Apple boasted that iOS 8 was the "biggest release since the launch of the App Store," and the company wasn't kidding, with the software requiring up to 5.7 GB of free space on iPhones and iPads in order to be downloaded and installed. The update also came with some long-requested features, including the ability to install new keyboards and see app widgets in the notifications screen.
